Building Together: Free Community Tutoring at Oak Park Church of Christ

At Oak Park Church of Christ, we believe in the power of community. That's why we're excited to offer a free weekly tutoring program to students in our community who are experiencing learning difficulties and may not have access to private tutoring.

Here's how we can support you:

  • Experienced and Caring Tutors: Our program is led by Kenzie and Laura Rushton, experienced Calgary Board of Education teachers with expertise in Grades 1-12. They will oversee a team of police-checked volunteer tutors, including current and retired teachers, and other skilled individuals who are passionate about helping students succeed.
  • Personalized Support: We create a safe and encouraging space where all learners feel comfortable asking questions and reaching their full potential. Students are encouraged to come prepared with specific questions, homework, or areas where they'd like extra help.

What is Required of You / Next Steps:

  • Pre-registration is mandatory: Space is limited, so please pre-register each week by Wednesday night. This ensures we have enough qualified tutors to support all students. You will find the registration button at the bottom of this page.
  • Come prepared: Bring any relevant materials, such as textbooks, notebooks, or assignments.

Together, we can make a difference!

Is there more you can offer?

We're always looking for ways to expand our program and better serve our community. If you have any of the following items or are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor, please reach out to [email protected]:

  • Volunteer Tutors (teachers: current or retired)
  • Jump Math workbooks (Grades 1-3)
  • Grade K-9 levelled readers
  • Decodable text reading books
  • Graphing calculators
  • Small whiteboards (approximately 8.5" x 11") and whiteboard markers

Your contribution, big or small, can make a real difference in the life of a student.

Let's learn and grow together!
